In the Gospel of John, we will not find an account of the birth or temptation of Jesus. We will not read of His baptism or learn of His Last Supper with His disciples. We will not encounter Him as He struggles in Gethsemane or ascends in heaven. John’s Gospel contains no word of the healing of the demon possessed and perhaps most stunning and peculiar of all, it gives none of the parable stories Jesus told, which are so precious to the Synoptic Gospels.
